Wednesfield Village Show

You are invited to the Wednesfield Village Show! There are 40 competitive classes, for adults and children, ranging from fruit and vegetables to crafts and photos, plus cakes, jams, and many more. 

Everyone is welcome to enter - details of the classes and rules are listed below and are available in a leaflet which is available in the church or the centre. 

There are certificates and rosettes for first prize, and a "best in show" award for adults, and one for juniors. And even if you don't enter, why not pop along and have a look at how others have done! Refreshments available, and the produce will be auctioned at the end of the day.

Classes for 2018 are as follows:

Vegetables & Fruit (home grown)
1. A plate of vegetables of your choice
2. A plate of salad vegetables
3. A plate of herbs
4. A plate of fruit of your choice

Plants and Floral art 
5. A flower arrangement of your choice
6. A flowering houseplant
7. A cactus or succulent plant


Food and drink (homemade)
8. A sponge cake, any shape or flavour
9. A showstopper decorated cake, any design
10. 4 decorated cup cakes
11. 4 biscuits or cookies
12. 1 jar of chutney or pickle
13. 1 jar of jam, jelly, marmalade or fruit curd
14. Bread or rolls (including bread machine)

Crafts (handmade) and other
15. Knitting/crochet
16. Needlecraft, including cross-stitch, tapestry and embroidery
17. Sewing skills, including dressmaking
18. Any item of jewellery
19. A handmade greetings card
20. Papercraft
21. A handmade flower (any craft)
22. A paper plane (to be judged by length of flight - flights to take place between 10.30 and 11.00 in Church)
23. A limerick which contains the word “village” and/or the word “Wednesfield” (nothing rude!) 

Art
24. Oil/acrylic, any subject
25. Watercolour/sketch/pastel, any subject

Photography (see rule 7)
26. Landscape – rural/coastal
27. Landscape - urban
28. A flower or flowers
29. Animal(s) or bird(s)
30. Transport
31. A celebration
32. Wednesfield at its best
33. “All is not what it seems” 

Junior 
(2 age bands for each class: 8 years and under, and 9-12 years)
34. A handmade craft item
35. 2 iced fairy cakes
36. Flowers from your garden
37. A poem you have written
38. A photograph of flowers (see rule 7)
39. A photograph of a favourite place (see rule 7)
40. A character made out of vegetables

Show rules
1 The show is open to all members of the public.
2 The general public, stallholders and competitors are not allowed in the Centre during the judging of exhibits.
3 Prize giving ceremony will be at 3.30pm
4 All exhibits in the classes 1-5 and 8-14 will be auctioned after prizes are awarded. Exhibits in other categories should be collected by 6pm.

6 Overall awards will be made to “Best in show” adult and junior.
7 For all photograph classes, photos including people are permissible if the photo has been taken at a public event. Otherwise the photo is permitted if express written permission has been provided by the individual (or parent/guardian if under 18). Photographs which do not meet these guidelines will not be displayed, at the discretion of the judges. 
8 The judges’ decisions are final. No appeals are permitted
